Chuck Manson and a Guy Chack Manson Should Meet

Charles Manson is looking really bad lately, according to this photo comparison from the LA Times:

Yikes! Remember kids, tattoos and facial carvings that look cool young end up looking dumb when you're old and have been in prison since the 1970s for murder. You know, kid stuff.

As for the guy that the famed Mr. Manson should meet? His name is Katsuji Murata. I found out about him while randomly surfing Wikipedia, the hole into which much of my free time falls. Let me just quote the article:

On December 8, 1963, while partying in a Tokyo nightclub, Rikidōzan was stabbed with a urine-soaked blade by gangster Katsuji Murata

On December 8, 1963, while partying in a Tokyo nightclub, Rikidōzan was stabbed with a urine-soaked blade by gangster Katsuji Murata.

Rikidōzan was stabbed with a urine-soaked blade by gangster Katsuji Murata

Rikidōzan was stabbed with a urine-soaked blade

with a urine-soaked blade

a urine-soaked blade

That's really all that I can think to say about it. Oh, and perhaps somebody mistook the blade for a pregnancy test.

Captain's Log, Stardate: WTF

Hello class, I trust you all enjoyed the break. Now it is time to get some serious learning done. Today we will be discussing 4 very important things which I was only taught Saturday.

Lesson 1: Working for Amtrak is less stressful than running a summer fitness camp.

While I know most of you were under the impression that running a summer fitness camp is less stressful than working for Amtrak (and who wouldn't be?), this is not the case according to the stewardess (conductress? I dunno what the people on trains are called.) on one of my trains. She discussed in detail how the fitness camp had taken away all of her personal time and then went on to explain how much fun it was to travel around on trains. I'm sure you all heard her lecture, though, and I would hope that you will all go out and buy her book Choo Choo: How I Escaped Stress and Found Inner Peace. Your oral reports will be due at the end of the semester.

Lesson 2: Saturday was Brittany's birthday.

Of course we all knew the Brittany was turning () years old on Saturday, but the crazy guy at Penn Station in New York singing it repeatedly into his microphone attached to a mini-amp didn't hurt either. Brittany, we offer our congratulations and hope that the crazy guy's song made up for the lack of gifts and cake.

Lesson 3: Some Russians are very soulful.

My taxi driver back to campus was named Ivan, and man did Ivan love to sing R & B music. He tuned in (I'm 107 years old, I know) to the R & B station, cranked the volume, and sang throughout the whole trip. Normally I would make fun of something this absurd, but he was actually really good and, I'm not gonna lie, I was tapping my foot towards the end. I wanted to share one song with you that he particularly enjoyed (please, imagine a Russian man singing along; it adds to the experience).

Lesson 4: Moose Vader Roolz

This was brought to my attention by some graffiti I saw while leaving Philadelphia, and I'm not sure it requires any further explanation. Moose Vader, who apparently has a Facebook page here, does indeed rool.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Pile of Money

So apparently there's a new teaser trailer for the new Harry Potter movie making the rounds on the internet. And by the internet, I mean Digg.com. Granted, I loved growing up reading the Harry Potter books, but what is going on in this picture?

I get that she's casting a spell, but come on. She's dressed in all black, has terrible hair, and looks like the Whomping Willow applied her makeup/punch to the face (holy crap, a Harry Potter reference, go tell the 13 year old girls on LiveJournal!) And is she wearing lace gauntlets? And what is with all of the dramatic shouting while casting spells? Shut it down, dear. Warner Brothers, get a new costume department that isn't headed by Lulu from Final Fantasy X.

Also, did anyone else notice the spoiler I pointed out? Holy crap, that building doesn't have a gargoyle holding every bowl of candles (What? Bowls of candles?)! Some of the bowls of candles are just left unheld. There's a metaphor/pretentious artist joke there somewhere. And here's the full teaser trailer:

In the Future, Every Bunny Suicide Book will be Famous for Fifteen Minutes

The Story

So I just saw this on Fark and wanted to say this: who burns books anymore? Ignoring the fact that this woman is a crazy retard and probably should not be allowed to hold the life of a child in her hands, it seems like she could just throw the book away without making a big fuss. Or she could make a big fuss.

American parents, get over yourselves. You ruined music, you ruined the internet, and it seems like every year you get closer to ruining books. Most people I know haven't read a book in the last month, but I can guarantee that your attempt at censoring a book is going to motivate people like myself to seek out copies of it (free copies, obviously...torrents for the anti-censorship win!).

I will bet the entire internet that this woman thinks evolution is the devil trying to corrupt our souls with mountains of scientifically validated evidence. I win. No more internet for her.

Edit: Apparently the book is somewhat known by itself (despite the intense publicity campaign of The People's Exhibit A lady), with one Youtube video featuring pictures from the book at almost 140,000 views. It actually looks pretty funny.
